  • Download your reports after each payout so your bookkeeping stays current.

  • Date
  • Transaction type
  • Description
  • Order information
  • Gross sale amount
  • Etsy fees
  • Taxes
  • Shipping charges
  • Refunds or adjustments
  • Net amount
  • Currency

These details allow you to calculate:

  • Gross Sales
  • Marketplace Fees
  • Shipping Income
  • Sales Tax Collected (when applicable)
  • Refunds
  • The Net Deposit that is transferred to your bank account

The Etsy Workflow

The Etsy workflow begins with the Holding Account is used to record activity that occurs inside the Etsy platform before Etsy sends the money to your checking account. Think of it as a temporary waiting area for your Etsy funds. This process mirrors the way Etsy actually handles your money. The Etsy Holding Account helps you maintain accurate records for tax reporting

Entering Etsy Marketplace Payout Transactions

Entering Etsy Marketplace Payout Transactions

Think of an Etsy payout as a complete financial story—not just a bank deposit. The deposit is only the final chapter. Before that money reached your bank account, sales were made, fees were deducted, and adjustments may have occurred. Your bookkeeping should capture the entire story, not just the ending.

This workflow is designed to help you see the complete picture of your business activity so your financial records accurately reflect what actually happened.

Organizing Market Place Payout Data

Organizing Market Place Payout Data

Think of your Etsy payout report as a box filled with unsorted receipts. Before you file those receipts into your bookkeeping system, you first organize them into logical groups. A Pivot Table does that organization for you, turning a long list of transactions into a clear summary that is much easier to understand and record. Good bookkeeping begins with organized information. When your source data is clear, the rest of your workflow becomes simpler and more reliable.

Installing The Custom GnuCash Template

About Your Custom Chart of Accounts Template

The custom Chart of Accounts is designed to give you a clear, organized starting point in GnuCash. You can upload the CSV directly into GnuCash to instantly populate your account structure—saving time, reducing setup confusion, and helping you begin tracking your finances with clarity and confidence.

The template is a beginner‑friendly foundation you can grow with as your business evolves. Think of your Chart of Accounts as the filing cabinet for your business—not simply a list of bookkeeping categories. Every dollar that enters or leaves your business will eventually be filed into one of the accounts. Throughout this course, you’ll learn a consistent workflow for organizing that information so your financial records remain accurate, organized, and easy to understand. The goal is not to build a perfect bookkeeping system on the first day. The goal is to build a system that is consistent, reliable, and easy to maintain.
